Jhula Buying Guide: 5 Critical Things to Check Before Purchasing

Investing ₹30,000 to ₹1,50,000 in a premium jhula is a big decision. Before you hand over any money to a showroom or online vendor, run through this Vrundavan strict quality checklist.

1. Check the Steel Gauge (Thickness)

Do not just ask if it's "100% steel". Ask for the exact gauge/thickness of the pipes.

Poor Quality: 18 Gauge or thinner (bends easily).

2. Magnet Test

Carry a small fridge magnet with you. Authentic Grade 304 Stainless Steel is *non-magnetic*. If the magnet sticks firmly to the shiny frame, it is cheap SS202 or chromed iron. Walk away immediately.

3. Inspect the Welding Joints

Look closely at where the pipes meet.

Cheap Swings: Sloppy, bumpy welds hidden under thick, sloppy polish.

Premium Swings: TIG-welded seamlessly. The joint should be sanded down and polished so smoothly that the metal looks like one continuous piece of liquid chrome.

4. Chain Link Welds

Inspect the chains. Every single link in the chain should be spot-welded shut. If the links are just bent into shape and open-ended, under heavy weight, they will pry open and drop the swing.

5. Ceiling Assessment

Before ordering, look at your ceiling. If you have a false ceiling (POP/Gypsum), you must hire a professional to cut a hole, mount heavy anchor fasteners deep into the true RCC concrete roof, and reseal it safely. Never drill long screws directly into plasterboard.
